REED CITY  —  Jon Green realizes practices don’t officially start until Monday and the season doesn’t kick off until Aug. 28.

But last week, Green and his teammates put in as much time as possible for the Coyotes to get ready for the 2014 campaign in pursuit of their fourth straight Central State Activities Association title.

Green had a key season for the Coyotes last fall and is expected to be a major contributor again.

“We went through the basic stuff because Morley (Stanwood) was here,” Green said last week during the first day of a four-day Coyote football camp. “They showed everyone how to (hide the ball). We went through our basic plays.”

Green figures he spent three to four days a week on football during the summer.

“You’re trying to bring all the stuff back in your memory,” Green said.

Green plays outside linebacker and running back for the Coyotes.

“I’ve been bulking up, trying to get faster and stronger,” he said. “I think they’re all doing pretty good. Everybody is getting stronger and bigger.”

The Coyotes have had three straight 9-0 regular seasons and have a 29-game win streak.

“We lost a couple of people but I think we’ll be just fine,” Green said. “We have a lot bigger linemen.”

Green is looking for his best season.

“I want to win a district championship,” he said.

But success comes from a strong summer program, Green agreed. So far so good for the Coyotes.
