Green looking for best track season this spring at Reed City
REED CITY — It wouldn’t be surprising if Reed City senior Jon Green puts together another impressive track and field season.
It’s Green’s fourth season in track. He’s qualified for state final every year. He was first-team all-conference in the Central State Activities Association in three of his events last season the discus, 4x100 and the 4x200.
He’ll be in the shot put, discus, 100 and 400 this season.
“I’d like to qualify for state in all them, actually,” Green said. “My best one, as of right now is probably 100 or discus, but right near is the 400.”
The Coyotes were set to resume track action on Tuesday of this week. They had an indoor meet at Grand Valley and an outdoor meet at Harrison last month.
Green won the shot put (41-3) while Evan Skiver was second (39-10) and T.J. Patterson third (38-5). In the discus, Green was second in (120-2).
“I was sick, I’ve been sick the last couple of meets,” he said. “It was the first track meet and I was kind of out of shape.”
Green hopes to place at the discus,100 and 400.
Upcoming meets for Reed City are Friday at the Newaygo Invitational and Tuesday at Tri County.
“We’re a little small, we don’t have too many guys out,” Green said. “I think what we have, we’re good. We’re just limited.”
