REED CITY — Terry Myers is coaching a Reed City-Evart Little League Girls 11-12-year-old Major Division team that is getting ready for state tournament action.

Because Reed City-Evart faces no other teams in its district, it automatically qualifies for the state tourney.

The state finals are at Essexville this week.

“It’s our first time down there so it’s all new to us,” Myers said. “I know there will be numerous teams.”

The team play games on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in pool play. Sunday and Monday are elimination games with the championship game on Tuesday.

The team is a combined Reed City-Evart team. Both local communities had one team. There are 11 total girls on the team.“We’ve been practicing, this is our third week coming up,” Roth said.

He has four pitchers on his roster: Kamryn Myers, Madelynn Morgan, Kiley Shoemaker and Abby Brown.

Myers is confident his hitter can produce.

“We have some girls that play in AAU that are on our team. They play in tournaments pretty much most of the time,” he said.
