REED CITY — Cassie Enos is coming off a unique wrestling season for Reed City.

She finished second in the state in her girls 171-pound weight class. She also wrestled on the girls team for the first year.

She’s been wrestling overall with the boys competition for five years.

“I wrestled two girls this season before state,” Enos, a junior, said. “Against boys, I was 9-11.”

At the girls state tournament, she was 1-1 for second.

“It was definitely a completely different experience,” she said. “It was a lot more competitive. There was more action in competition. I enjoyed it and am looking forward to doing it again next year.”

Against the boys, “I definitely learned a lot,” Enos said. “It’s hard because I don’t have the upper body of the boys. I definitely have gotten a whole lot better at competing with them.”

She’s also on the Reed City softball team.

“Softball is my main sport,” Enos said. “I do a little bit of preseason stuff for wrestling, but it’s mostly softball.”

“Wrestling definitely builds character,” Enos said. “It definitely shows you how to combat issues, even in life.”

Enos expects to wrestle boys and girls again next year.
