EVART — Evart’s Garrett Johnson keeps busy between football wrestling and baseball.

Right now, the Wildcat senior is focusing on a wrestling season with an Evart team which keeps developing its program.

Johnson is in his second year of wrestling.

“Last year, I finished the season at 6-15,” he said. “Right now (as of Jan. 9) I already have 15 wins.”

Experience, Johnson said, has been the difference.

He didn’t have the chance for offseason wrestling due to his commitments to other sports. But he came into the season ready.

“This season I think I started off pretty well,” Johnson said. “My first match was (early January) against Benzie Central. I was losing going into the third period. I ended up pinning the kid. I pretty much wore him out and I could do what I needed to”

Johnson said his shots is where he usually tries to score the most.

“I’m trying to work from the bottom,” he said.

In wrestling, it makes him tougher for other sports, Johnson said.

The Wildcats will be at the Reed City Invitational on Saturday.
