Freshmen playing key role for Evart volleyball

EVART — Evart’s volleyball team entered October with hopes of continuing to improve as the team enters the second half of the season.

The Wildcats have been young this year with just five seniors and two freshmen, including Mckenzie Kimball.

“It’s going good,” Kimball said. “I set. You have to know where your hitters want the ball and where you need to be. I’m learning but I’m doing OK, though.”

It’s the first time Kimball has set. She played various positions during her middle school years. Right now, she’s getting used to setting.

The key continues to be “working together and working as one,” she said, adding that the Highland Conference has proven to be extremely competitive.

Felicia Nelson is the other freshman on the team.

“We have yet to win any games,” coach Katie Nostrant said on Tuesday. “We have taken some teams to four games which is a huge step for Evart volleyball.”

Evart was home with McBain   Tuesday and is at Mesick Thursday.
