EVART – Kyrah Gray is in her freshman season but has had enormous success for Evart volleyball on the varsity level.

In her first high school season, Gray has been an outside hitter. This also marks the first time she has played with her elder sister Addy Gray, a senior.

“It’s been a fun experience with her,” Gray said.

The key to being an effective outside hitter “is keeping the ball in bounds” Gray said. “I hit the ball pretty good. I could probably do a little better.”

Gray found out during tryouts she would be on the varsity.

“It was a surprise and I’m still a little nervous, she said. “But it’s been a good experience.”

Evart is now preparing for the Division 3 districts next week.

When the team is doing well, “it’s because our confidence is up,” Gray said. “We need to work on passing and spiking more.”

Like her sister, Gray is also in softball and basketball, which she said are her two favorite sports.
