REED CITY -- Austin Fowler has been a steady and consistent three-sport athlete at Reed City and was hoping to get in his final track campaign of his high school career.

The coronavirus attack forced the MHSAA to cancel the spring sports season on Friday.

This means the end of Fowler's sports career, which included three seasons in track. He's a thrower. He was first in the conference in the discus.

The discus is his best event. If there had been a season, he would have wanted to be a state qualifier and break the school record, which is 144 feet, 6 inches. He was 14 feet away.

Saying Fowler likes the discus more than the shot put is an understatement.

"I'm good at it," he said.

Fowler was also a standout football and wrestling performer for Reed City.

He had originally planned on going to Olivet for sports but has decided to possibly go to Ferris for construction management, and may eventually go out for track.
