Former local athletes excel at next level

BIG RAPIDS — Ferris State’s Hanna Price, of Reed City, placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles (16.42) in the Bulldog Invitational Saturday at Top Taggart Field.

Mara VanOrder, of Evart, now at Cornerstone University, competed for her team last week at Davenport University. VanOrder took third place in the 400 meters in 1:01.48.

Grace Hamilton, also of Evart, is running the distances for Cornerstone. She’s coming off a cross country season in which she was among the five top runners for CU. A junior, Hamilton was 39th in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships.

Another Evart native, Jessica Tea-Hui, is running at Grand Valley State University as a junior. She cleared 5-1 as an indoor season’s best.

Also from Evart, former cross country champion Santana Scott is running for Detroit Mercy this spring. He had an indoor time of 4:31.10 in the 1,600-meter run.


Reed City Sportsman Club

REED CITY — Rhonda Lockhart, secretary of the Reed City Sportsman Club, announced Winter League shoots have ended for the season.

The Chicken Shoot will be Saturday at the clubgrounds and a memorial shoot is set for April 23
