REED CITY – A showdown for first place in the girls softball LAT league is set for next Wednesday at Reed City when Pine River will come for a doubleheader.

There are two weeks left in LAT League action.

“We are currently in second place with a 6-2 record behind Pine River who is 8-0,” Reed City coach Roger Steig said. “Next week we are at home vs Pine River.”

Steig pointed to Kaylin Goodman as one of the reasons his summer team, called the Reed City Rage, has been having a strong season.

“She has been hot this summer batting .583 with a fielding percentage of 1.000 in eight games,” Steig said. “She has had 36 assists and put outs without an error. In hitting she has one home run, three triples and six doubles. She is busy with travel ball and doesn’t miss any of our LAT League games.”

Reed City swept McBain on Thursday 10-6 and 21-5.

Isabell Guy was the winning pitcher in the first game, giving up six runs on eight hits, striking out nine and walking six.

Leading hitters with two hits each were Guy, Morgan Hammond and Madison Holmes. Hitters with one hit were Kaylin Goodman, Myah Beard and Miyesha Baumgarner.
