CLARE — It was a productive night for Reed City’s track and field teams at Friday’s Division 3 regional at Clare.

Reed City featured Nate Fasbender as a winner in the pole vault plus several state qualifiers for the state meet May 30 at Comstock Park.

Clare won both meets. Pine River was second and Reed City eighth for the girls. Pine River was fourth and Reed City seventh for the boys.

Several other boy qualified for the state finals with second-place finishes. Taking second for the girls were Emily Libey, Keylee Aemisegger, Alison Schemerhorn and Hanna Price in the 4x100 (52.83) and Price in the 100 dash (13.30), the 100 hurdles (16.48) and 300 hurdles (50.10).

Fasbender cleared 14ft 1/4 inches for first in the pole vault. Other Reed City athletes that qualified for state finals with second-place finishes were Jon Green in the 100 dash (11.49), the 4x100-relay team of John Green, Zach Borst, Fasbender and Andre Jones (45.19) and T.J. Patterson in the discus (131-5).

“We knew all this was possible and we had planned on placing in all of those,” Reed City coach Brent Michell said. “Sometimes things don’t work out the way you want them to, so we’re very pleased.”

Jones missed qualifying in the 200-meter dash by 0.07 seconds and took third

“We had a good day,” Reed City coach Vikki Michell said. “The weather turned out to be a pretty good day.”

“When we started warming up, it quit raining,” Brent Michell said.

Reed City boys third at CSAA

STANTON — Reed City closed out its Central State Activities Association (CSAA) season on Tuesday, May 13, at Central Montcalm. There were seven teams in the Gold Division. Grant’s boys won with 124 points, followed by Chippewa Hills with 113 and Reed City with 99. For the girls, Chippewa Hills won with 260 points while Reed City was fourth with 51.5.

For the Reed City boys, Jon Green was third (23.9) and Andre Jones fifth with (24.65) in the 200, Brad Marek was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (17.41), the 4x100 relay team was second (46.23), the 4x200 was second (1:34.79), T.J. Patterson and Evan Skiver were one-two in the shot put, Green (126-3) and Patterson (115-8) were one-two in the discus and Skiver was fourth (114-4).

Nate Fasbender won the pole vault (13-6) while Dylan Langlois (11-6) was third. Zack Borst was third in the high jump (11-6). Fasbender was fourth in the long jump (19-2).

For the Reed City girls, Hannah Price was third in the 100 meters (13.56) and third in the 100-meter hurdles (16.96), Catherine Kettner was fifth in the 1,600 meters (6:19.28), the 4x100-relay (53.52), the 4x200 relay team was second (2:03.08), Hannah Boza was third in the discus (80-9) and Keylee Aemisegger was fourth (4-6) in the jump.
