Evart volleyball team sweeps Brethren

EVART – It was a fun ending to the regular season for the Evart volleyball girls on Thursday.

The Wildcats closed their home season against Brethren with a 3-0 win in nonleague action.

Evart will enter the Division 3 district tournament with a 6-26 record.

It was 25-20, 25-21, 25-20 for the Wildcats.

Addy Gray had a kill, 12 digs and 28 sets for Evart, Katelyn Gostlin had three aces, one kill, two digs and two blocks; Brooklyn Decker had three aces, 15 digs, two blocks and two kills; Skylar Baumgardner had two aces 11 kills, 15 sets, three kills and two blocks, McKenzie McKay had seven kills two digs and an ace; Ayla Schmidt had three aces and three digs and Ava Retlewski had one dig.

“Everybody played really good and hustled,” Evart coach Amanda Brown said.

The next action is the Division 3 tournament at Manton on Tuesday against Lake City. It starts at 5:30 p.m.

Lake City recently swept Evart 3-0 in Highland Conference action.

“We didn’t play our best by any means,” Brown said. “It will be fun to watch if we play good volleyball. We keep improving and getting better. We keep taking teams to four or five matches. It’s really fun to watch when everything is working and everybody is moving and talking. We’ve improved and they’ve been working hard.

“Good things are happening, which is really nice.”
