EVART — It was senior night for Evart’s volleyball team on Tuesday (Oct.26) but the Wildcats were unable to pull out a win despite two closely contested matches against Highland Conference rivals.

Evart fell to Houghton Lake 25-17, 25-22 and then bowed to Manton 27-25, 22-25, 15-5.

Skylar Baumgardner had a kill in the second game for an 18-16 Evart lead, and Deanna Conklin had an ace for the 25th point to force a third game. It was 4-3 Manton, early in the third game. But the Rangers went 11-2 the rest of the way to clinch the win.

“It wasn’t our best game but I feel we did really good as a team,” Evart back row player Ava Retlewski said. “We communicated and had good attitudes.”

Henry and Skylar Baumgardner led the team in kills for the night.

“They played really well and had some key blocks,” Evart coach Amanda Brown said. “Addy Gray had some really good serves. Abby had three digs, Conklin had 10 and Ryenn Baumgardner had 12 and served well also.”

McKenzy McKay had three kills for Evart. Skylar Baumgardner had nine and Henry 12.
