Evart volleyball set to host Pine River

EVART – Evart fell to Lake City 25-14, 25-17, 25-14 Tuesday night in Highland Conference action.

Kirstin Parsons totaled six kills for Evart while Kendra Foster had four.

“Three of my starters are out,” said Evart coach Jayme Maddern, referring to Jessica Tea with a wrist injury, Tabby Turley with an undisclosed injury and Saige Nabozny with an illness.

“It went pretty well,” said Maddern. “Everyone stepped up. I had some girls play positions they’ve never played before.”

Parsons continues to excel as a hitter, Maddern said.

“She’s always a big force, Maddren said. “She has really good serves. She’s kind of our go-to person.”

The Evart coach was encouraged with Foster’s contributions.

“I had her playing a position she never played before,” Maddern said. “She really stepped into it and took ownership over it.”

Maddern expected to get the other players back and have them ready for action this week. On Tuesday, the Wildcats were at Manton in Highland Conference action. They’ll be at Vestaburg Thursday in nonleague play.

Next Tuesday, Evart is home against Pine River in league play.

“We’re starting to come into it then we got plagued by injuries,” Maddern said.
