EVART — Evart’s boys track team was second and the girls fourth in their respective divisions Saturday of the Central Montcalm Invitational.

Alex Parsons won the 200 meters in 24;54 for the boys and Tina Fournier was second for the girls in 30.9.

Mara VanOrder won the 800 meters in 2:37.33 and was third in the 1,600 meters in 6:04.45.

David Zinger and Logan Hammer were second and third in the 1,600 meters in 4:44.12 and 4:45.7.

Satana Scott won the 3,200-meter run in 10:31.46 while for the girls, Hamilton was third in 12:54.9.

Evart was second in the 400 relay in 46.13 with Newton, Struble, Dylan Danley and Larry VanBuren. The Wildcats won the 800 relay with Newton, Struble, Dylan and John Danley in 1:36.11. They were second in the 1,600-meter relay with Jacob Hopkins, John Danley, Zinger and Hammer in 3:50;28.

Kirsten Parsons was second in the shot put at 32-8.5. Kaitlyn Parsons won the discus in 91-11.

Hammer, John Danley, Max Hodges and Zinger won the 3,200-meter relay in 8:36.45.

Dean Marsh was second in the shot put at 45-03.25. Jacob Hopkins was second in the high jump at 6-0 and Ricky Miller won the pole vault.

Evart had its final home meet of the season Tuesday and the boys team remained undefeated in the Highland Conference with a 144-18 win over Marion and 112.5-45.5 over Beal City.

The Evart girls lost 89-65 to Marion and 125-36 to Beal City.

Jacob Hopkins broke the school record in the high jump in 6-4 3/4.

“The record was 6-4,” said assistant coach Randy Kruse. “We’re undefeatd right now (in the conference). There’s some good teams, Pine River and Manton to go up against (Tuesday of this week). We’ll see what happens at Manton.”

Also for the Evart boys, first places went to David Zinger in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters, Dean Marsh in the shot put and discus, the 3,200, 400, 800 and 1,600 relay teams, Logan Hammer in the 800 meter run, John Danley in the 400, Alex Newton in the 200 meters, Rick Miller in the pole vault and Nate Struble in the long jump.

First places for the Evart girls came from Tabitha Turley in the 100 hurdles, Grace Hamilton in the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs, Kaitlyn Parsons in the discus, Mara VanOrder in the 400 and 800 runs, the 400-meter relay team and Jessica Tea in the high jump.

“Grace has just been running awesome, said Evart coach Amanda Langell. “She PRed in the mile and the two mile again. We had a couple of PRs in the 100.

“We had good performance in high jump. Jessica jumped 5 foot. Sidney (Cleland) had a good throw in discus, 78 feet.”
