EVART – Riley Ransom is a talented three-sport athlete who, like many others, is having a very busy summer in getting ready for the 2022-23 sports season.

The Wildcats had a three-hour mini sports camp last week and will continue to have 3-on-3 passing scrimmages.

Ramson is in football, wrestling and baseball and has been working in all three during the summer He’s also been spending extensive time in the weight room.

“I’ve been doing a few baseball games too,” Ransom, a catcher said. “I put a lot of work into the offseason.”

For football he’ll be snapping the ball at center and also playing middle linebacker, the same positions as last season.

“I think we can definitely do as good as last year, if not better,” Ransom said. “I’m hoping to have my best year. We lost a few decent guys from last year.”

Evart’s wrestling program has open mats on Tuesday and Thursday. Ransom has been going to Thursday sessions.

Evart coach Pat Craven is expecting plenty of key contributions from Ransom.

“Riley is a three-year returning starter,” Craven said. “He has excelled this off season as a captain and has led in every aspect of what we ask of our leaders. Riley is extremely intelligent and has the ability to call out all of our audible protections at the line of scrimmage and assist his teammates with their blocking assignments. His wrestling experience allows him to maximize his stature and really dig in against larger kids. He is an absolute Buffalo.

“Defensively, Riley continues to get better at linebacker. He is quick in his reads and has great feet. Riley is tireless and a relentless worker. What I love most about Riley is the type of kid he is. It is very evident his family is strong and he's had outstanding role models in his life. He is fun, tough, and a great teammate. I am proud to be his coach.”
