EVART — It was a split week for the Evart Wildcats.

On Friday, the Wildcats fell to McBain 70-39 in Highland Conference boys basketball action.

“They came right out and took it to us. Our defense was lacking. We didn’t have much weakside defense,” said Evart coach Kris Morgan.

Evart 46, Marion 38

Evart improved to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the Highland Conference with a 46-38 win over Marion  on Jan. 15

Jacob Hopkins led the attack with 12 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals while Jon Hooker had 10 points and five rebounds for Evart which trailed 9-8 after the first quarter. It was tied 16-16 at halftime. Evart had a 20-8 advantage in the third quarter for a 36-24 lead. The Eagles outscored Evart 14-10 in the final eight minutes.

Nathan Struble had eight points.
