REMUS — Evart's boys track team is in action at Newaygo on Thursday in a non-league meet.

Evart came away from its first boys outdoor meet of the season at 1-1 after losing to Chippewa Hills 75.5-49.5 and topping Pine River 84-38.

The Evart 4x800 meter relay team was first in 9:19.11 and consisted of Nathan Woods, Austin Hamilton, Andrew Booher and Josh Woods.

The meet was April 4 at Chippewa Hills.

The 4x200 meter relay team was first in 1:37.71 with Cody Pritchard, Kyle Stoles, Ben Randall and Danny Griffin.

Josh Woods won the 1,600-meter run in 4:58.04, while Shane Todd took the 400-meter dash (59-03).

"I thought we did very well," Evart coach Dennis Peacock said. "Obviously it was windy and cold and horrible. We did some good things. The kids looked comfortable and ran well. It's a nice group."

The Wildcats took places two through six in the 3,200-meter run with Nathan Woods (11:22.9), Josh Woods (11:33.33), Austin Hamilton (11:54.87), Andrew Booher (12:32.97) and Alex Hamilon (12:55.26).

Behnind Josh Woods in the 1,600-meter run were Nathan Woods (5:01.31), Austin Hamilton (5:03.45) and Alex Hamilton (5:17.28) in places three through five.

"Ben Randall went (20-8.25) in the long jump (for third place)" Peacock said. "We had four kids that hadn't run together before in the 4x2 and they ran really well. For it being this cold and windy and nasty and after a week of spring break, they did well. I was pleased."

Richard Foster was third in the 110-meter hurdles (19.33) and Kyle Stokes was second in the 100-meter dash (12.31). Tanner Ryan was fifth (1:02.65) and Grant Booher sixth (1:03.45) in the 400-meter dash.

Griffin was second in the 200-meter dash (23.92). Randall was fourth in the high jump (5-4).

Evart was scheduled this week to be at Harrison on Tuesday.
