Evart sportsman eyes successful fishing, hunting
EVART -- Mark Sochocki enjoys fishing and hunting during the fall.
He's the director of the Big Rapids Housing Commission and an Evart resident.
"I like to do quite a variety," he said. "I hope to do some grouse hunting, pheasant hunting, deer hunting, duck hunting, and fishing when the weather allows. For grouse hunting, I like to go around Osceola and Mecosta counties. For duck hunting, we travel around a little bit. We do some local duck hunting but will also go to Saginaw Bay and hunt ducks."
Sochocki indicated he hasn't heard good info regarding grouse and pheasant numbers.
"Duck numbers I don't know," he said.
"Deer numbers I think are pretty high. As the weather allows, we'll be fishing both Saginaw Bay and in Lake Michigan at Ludington, even into late fall if the weather allows. At Saginaw Bay, we'll be chasing perch and walleye until the ice shows up."
