Evart sophomore runner looking ahead to 2015

EVART — Devin Day was a valuable addition to the Evart Wildcat boys cross country team early in the season.

He’s a sophomore in his first year of cross country.

“My first meet was a 19:01,” he said early in the season. “I’m pretty proud of that. I’ve been trying my best with all these hard practices.”

Day had been in track and thought he had a good season as a long distance runner.

“Everybody was saying I’d do really good in cross,” he said. “So I thought I’d give it a try. I guess I can do it.”

Coach Kevin Mills noted Day wasn’t eligible to run for the second half of the season, but he’s hoping Day returns in 2015. The Wildcats were a state qualifier in division 4 and return most of their runners.

Day had been running with teammate Micah Wetters for the third and fourth spots. Santana Scott and Josh Woods have been going at one and two.
