Evart setter hoping for strong performance in district
EVART – Evart’s volleyball team has reaped the benefits of having several experienced players on the team including junior Skylar Baumgardner.
This marks her third year with the Wildcat varsity. Her sister, Ryenn Baumgardner, is a senior on the team.
Setting has been a key position for Baumgardner. She noted communication with the back row was critical in being a successful hitter.
The Wildcats graduated some strong players from last year. Baumgardner is hoping for a winning season and being able to contend for a district title next week.
The Wildcats practiced for two weeks outdoors because of COVID related restrictions before finally being able to come inside.
“That was a big thing,” Baumgardner said.
The goal all season, she added, was to be able to play their best game this time of year.
Baumgardner also plays basketball and softball. She said basketball is her favorite sport but volleyball ranks a close second.
Evart will be home on Tuesday for the last time this season, and then prepares for districts at Lake City next week.
