EVART  —   Kendra Foster is ready to be a busy player for the Evart softball team this season.

It’s her senior season and Foster is in her third softball campaign. Previous seasons have had their ups and downs, she’s noted.

“I’ve been pretty good,” she said.  “I went from outfield to third base.”

Foster, who also played volleyball, did some softball during the offseason. She worked on her pitching.

“I think I’ll do a little bit of pitching sometime and I’ll be working at third base,” Foster said.

This would be Foster’s first year of pitching. She’s working on her fastball.

“I’m not as good as Sam though,” Foster said. “She’s a good pitcher.”

Sam Bressler is the squad’s No. 1 hurler.

“I’m an all right batter,” Foster said. “This year, My goal is to hit a home run. We have a new style of batting. It’s a different stance. It helps you maneuver quickly.”

Foster is focusing on having a solid defensive year at third base.

“I’m a good thrower and I can get the balls pretty good,” she said.

Evart was scheduled to play Morley Stanwood at home last week but the games were canceled due to the weather. That means the season will not start until after break when Evart’s at Glen Lake April 16 and at home April 22 with Lake City.

“I think we’ll be strong this year,” Foster said. “We need to have a positive attitude and be there to make a difference.”

Despite being indoors, “we’re doing pretty good work” Foster said. “But would be better to get outdoors.”
