Evart senior hopes team can end three-game losing streak

EVART -- Evart's football team is at home in Highland Conference action on Friday with players like senior Vince Brown eager to start a three-game winning streak to end the regular season.

The Wildcats are 3-3, having lost the last three games after a 3-0 start.

Brown has been focusing on defense.

"My strengths have been my speed off the ball and being able to get around those linemen," he said. "I've been able to stop a lot of plays in the backfield before they're able to start. Against McBain (in a recent 20-18 loss) they tried to do a reverse sweep and as soon as the guy got the ball, I laid him out before he could get going."

Quickness has been a Vince Brown strength.

"Quickness and vision, being able to be fast and get to where I need to get going in a hurry" he said.

The Wildcats need more wins to automatically qualify for the playoffs.

"We're very sound on defense," Brown said. "Offensively, we have some things we need to work on. We are very sound and ready to play every Friday night. We want to go for the playoffs."
