Evart senior having solid season

EVART - Evart's girls basketball team scored an impressive come-from-behind win against Pine River last week and the Wildcats are hoping to use that dramatic outcome to springboard their hopes for the rest of the season.

Evart overcame a 19-point deficit against the Bucks to pull off the dramatic comeback win. Seniors like Ryenn Baumgardner are confident good times will continue.

Baumgardner also plays volleyball and softball. This marks her third season of varsity basketball. She has been among the team's top players.

She's looking at her role this year to include more shooting. Her offensive strength is 3-point shooting, something she works on a lot, as far as Baumgardner is concerned.

"I'd like to shoot around 50 percent," Baumgardner said, adding that the key to be an effective free throw shooter is "taking your time and following your shot."

Baumgardner has also focused on being an effective free-throw shooter.

As the season was starting again in February following a lengthy delay, Baumgardner was confident her team could get back in the groove.

Baumgardner, like her younger sister Skylar, will also be playing for the Wildcats. Ryenn said volleyball ranks as her top sport.
