Evart's track team takes second
EVART — Evart’s boys track team was second in the Manton Invitational on Friday with 103 points. McBain was first with 133. Reed City was third with 98.
Pine River was fifth with 54.
In the girls meet, Pine River was fourth with 82 and Evart sixth with 45.
For the Evart boys, Kyle Stokes was first in the 100 meters (2:06.47) and second in the 200 meters (23.38), Austin Hamilton was third in the 800 meters (2:06.47), Nathan Woods was first (10:14.98) in the 3,200 meters and Hamilton was second (10:19.27), Cameron Brasington was fourth in the 110-hurdles (17.33), Richard Foster was first in the pole vault (11-0).
“It was a lot of fun,” Evart coach Dennis Peacock said. “We didn’t go into it saying we wanted to get first or second or third. We let our distance kids concentrate on one or two aces. Kyle Stokes ran very well even though he didn’t feel well. Our hurdles, Brasington and Foster, ran personal bests.
For the Pine River boys, Elijah Lewis was third in the 100 meters (11.48), first in the long jump (20-3) and first in the 200 meters (23.24), Rogan Nelson was fourth in the pole vault (10-6).
For the Pine River girls, Kendra Montague was second (13;31) in the 100 meters and first in the 200 meters (27.70).
Grace Beebe was second in the 200 meters (28.90), Abigail Dennis was second (1:03.03) and Sydney Edstrom third (1:05.71) in the 400 meters, Abigail Dennis, Beebe, Edstrom and Montague were first in the 4x400 relay (4:18;03), and Esdeanna Koetkje was first in the pole vault (7-6).
For the Evart girls, Mackenzie Van Buren, Kyle Stokes, Kara Henry and Sage Culp (55.36) was second in the 4x100 (55.36), Kara Henry won the high jump (5-0), and VanBuren was second in the long jump (15-0).
