Evart runner having strong junior season
EVART - Kinkade Dubreuil has emerged as Evart's top cross country runner this season, and is pointing to a strong finish for the 2019 season.
He posted his personal record of 17:43.5 at the Carson City-Crystal Invitational on Sept. 28. It's way down from his initial time of 20:15.7 this season at the Hesperia Invitational.
It's Dubreuil's junior season.
With the graduation of Evart's top runners last season, Dubreuil was expected to emerge as No. 1 for the Wildcats, and he has.
"I'm really hoping to get into the 17s this year," he said, prior to the Carson City race. "I think I'm right there, pretty much. Between my second and third mile, I pass a lot of people."
It's his third varsity cross country season.
"It's been kind of hard," DeBreuil said. "A lot of times, I've been running by myself."
He did a lot of off season running and also wrestles during the winter to stay in shape for cross country.
Before the season ends, "I'm hoping to get 17:30," he said.
DuBreuill is hoping to qualify for the state meet.
