Evart places third in home invitational

EVART — Evart’s competitive cheer team is moving off a big week and is hoping for even more success in upcoming action.

The Wildcats started last week at home in the Evart Invitational on Jan. 27 and took third. Farwell finished first.

Also competing were Marion, Manistee, Pine River, Harrison, and Brethren. Evart and Marion also had their middle schools competing.

On Saturday, Evart was fourth in competition at Mount Pleasant.

Round 3, which involves stunts and mounts, has been Evart’s best round, coach Marty Pattee said.

Pattee was especially pleased with the performances of freshman Mariah Fisher.

“She tumbled for us and did a good job,” Pattee said.

The season is winding down in the final week with districts set for Feb. 20. Evart will be at Marion on Wednesday.

Cheerleaders for the Wildcats have included Brooklyn Elenbaas, Shantelle Nicoletta, Dana Vore, Halee Gillis, Nataleigh Burhans, Erin Flowers, Mariah Foster, Loraine Foster, Amber Way and Chasity Nichols.
