EVART — Evart’s Zach Parshall realizes this is the time of year when track athletes want to be at their best.

The Highland Conference meet was this week and coming up is state competition.

Parshall, a junior had a PR of 6-2 in the high jump and 19-1 in the long jump. Those have been his two main events, although he also does the discus.

The high jump has been his best event.

“Personally, I want to get 6-4,” he said. “It will be a good day to jump on. I need good weather and I think I can get it.”

Parshall has been in track since middle school. He’s continually been improving in the high jump.

The long jump is his best event and he’s hoping to get his PR again. “It will take a healthy day, a good weather day,” he said.

The Bucks have had a strong season although they hit a bump in the road two weeks ago in a pair of losses to Manton and Pine River. Parshall noted his team was missing some athletes for that meet.

“We’ve been pretty good this year,” Parshall said. “We’re pretty well-rounded. We wanted to win conference. We want to win regionals. Our hopes are to win another state championship.”

The Wildcats won the MITCA state title in 2012 and 2013.
