Evart junior looking to help team take more wins

EVART — Evart junior Andrew Booher has been counted upon to give the Wildcat boys basketball team key contributions from off the bench this season.

It’s his third year of basketball and first on the varsity.

“It’s a lot faster (than junior varsity),” Booher said.

The Wildcats recently defeated Marion to break a six-game losing streak.

“We just wanted to play smart, not have any turnovers and have fun,” Booher said. “I’m looking to do the best I can. When I get my number called, I go in and do what I’m told.”

He’s out there to get rebounds, Booher said, but he’s also focusing on ball handling.

“I’m trying to limit my turnovers,” he said.

The first conference win over Marion was critical, Booher said.

“We have to work our way up,” Booher said. “We have to play good defense and limit the turnovers.”

Evart (5-12) plays at home on Thursday against Lake City.
