Evart junior hopeful team can get back on winning path

EVART — Cody Pritchard played a key role for Evart in its 25-3 victory over White Cloud in the season opener, and would like to see similar success for the team in upcoming weeks.

“Good blocking” paved the way, Pritchard said, to an effective running attack against White Cloud. “We have really good speed.”

The Wildcats lost the last three weekends against Harrison, McBain and Manton.

Pritchard is a running back and linebacker for Evart, and said he’s improved from his sophomore season, especially in being stronger.

Evart was 2-7 last season but “we have a lot more experience this season,” Pritchard said.

The defense, Pritchard recalled, was able to stop the run effectively against White Cloud.

“We have to work hard in practice and get better,” Pritchard said, pointing to cutting down on turnovers and penalties as an example. “We’re capable of making the playoffs. We have to work hard. We have a lot of weapons.”

Evart plays at Beal City Friday night in Highland Conference action.
