Evart junior giving team spark at hitting position
EVART — Allyssa Witbeck is among the new faces on the Evart volleyball team being counted upon by the coaching staff to come up with key contributions this season.
She’s a junior in her first varsity season.
“We’re doing pretty good,” Witbeck, said after a recent match against Harrison in which the Wildcats dropped three close games in a 3-0 setback. “We need to get things down like passing and hitting.”
The Wildcats are now into their third week of the regular season and Witbeck doesn’t want to overlook the progress that’s been made.
“It’s been a lot,” she said. “We’ve come along a lot as far as working together.”
Witbeck and several others on the team have been making quick adjustments to the varsity level.
“There’s more competition definitely,” Witbeck said. “As far as hitting, it comes a lot harder and quicker.”
Witbeck has been a middle harder and said her hits have been accurate.
“We want to keep improving,” she said. “We’re cutting down on the errors.”
Evart needs to keep up its intensity in upcoming matches, Witbeck added.
The Wildcats will be at Montabella Tuesday.
