EVART — Evart’s Caleb Parish is off to a solid start to what he hopes will be a solid senior wrestling season.

Parish, a senior heavyweight wrestler. was 3-2 at the Big Rapids Cardinal Wrestling invitational earlier this month.

“I feel that I wrestled pretty good,” he said, adding he’s a four-year varsity wrestler and figures this will be his best season. “So far it feels like it. I’d like to think so.”

Parish entered Wednesday action last week with a 4-3 record.

“I would like to make it to regionals and at least place,” he said. “The key for that would be to try my hardest and get as good as I can.’’

Parish said size and speed are his main strengths.

“I’d like to get better at catching moves,” he said.

Parish is excited how the Wildcats are performing so far. They were 2-3 at the Big Rapids Invitational. The win included a 60-12 win over Big Rapids.

“I feel we’re doing well,” he said.

The Wildcats are scheduled to be at Chippewa Hills on Wednesday.
