EVART – Kaden DuBreuil started his season with a 4-1 record prior to New Year’s Day at the Reed City Rumble and the Evart Wildcat wrestler is looking forward to a strong season.

His performance at Reed City was his first of the season.

“I felt pretty good but I need to get in better shape,” he said. “I’ve been out for awhile.”

DuBreuil is a junior who has been in wrestling for eight seasons and is on the varsity as a heavyweight.

“My hope is I can get in better shape and beat the one kid who I lost to,” DuBreuil said. “I can and I feel that I will. I just need to get in better shape. Surprisingly (on Dec. 30), I did better with cradles which I haven’t even been drilling because I’m a heavyweight.”

Evart has been around the .500 mark this season.

“I think the team looks good,” DuBreuil said. “We have a couple of wrestlers who are older and can get points pretty good. We have so many freshmen this year. They just need a couple of years so they can get better.”

The Coyotes are at invitationals at Reed City on Jan. 22 and at Mancelona on Jan. 29.
