Evart girls fall to Manton, Pine River prevails
EVART — Evart’s girls basketball team lost a home game in Highland Conference action on Thursday to Manton 64-24.
McKenzie Kimball had 12 points while Cyana Dellar had seven. Evart was down 32-14 at halftime.
“We didn’t execute terrible offensively in the first half,” Evart coach Paul Higgins said. “I thought we executed pretty darn good. But you have to make shots. We struggled making shots.”
Evart will be at Marion on Friday in Highland Conference action. Weather permitting, the Wildcats were scheduled to be at Harrison on Tuesday.
“Hopefully, we’ll take the positives from our Manton game at go over to Harrison and play well and then play well on Friday,” Higgins said.
Pine River 67, Northern Michigan Christian 42
LEROY — Pine River was led by Kierra Justin with 24 points and 17 rebounds in this Highland Conference win on Thursday.
Julie Justin added 18 points while Anna Lindquist had 12 points and eight rebounds. Logan Powell had 11 rebounds.
Kaylee Goodman sat out the game with an injury.
“It took us awhile to play without her,” Pine River coach Shawn Ruppert said. “She’s an important part of our offense. She got injured in the McBain game. NMC is a good team. They tried to put pressure on us.”
Pine River plays at Crossroads on Wednesday and is home on Friday against Lake City.
