EVART — Evart’s girls basketball team lost 72-20 to Manton on Friday and fell to 6-12 overall and 1-10 in the Highland Conference.

Evart also got off to a slow start and it proved costly for the Wildcats in a 58-30 non-league home loss against White Cloud (11-6) on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

The Indians stormed out to a 23-4 lead after the first quarter. White Cloud was up 34-15 at halftime and 50-25 after the third quarter.

“We came out in the first quarter and White Cloud made some shots,” Evart coach Paul Higgins said. “We got in a hole too early. You take away that first quarter and limit the damage, maybe it’s a little different going into the second quarter and going into halftime.”

Hannah Brown scored 24 points for White Cloud. Kelci Elder had 10 points for Evart while Hanna Wetters added seven.

“We had some good moments but we didn’t follow through the entire game,” Wetters said.

“We’ve been in a funk since we played McBain two weeks ago Wednesday,” Higgins said. “We have to get back to what got us there, whether it’s making shots or what we’re doing in practice. We have to clean things up.”

Evart is at Marion on Thursday.
