EVART – Lake City’s big fourth quarter was too much for Evart’s girls basketball team to overcome in Monday’s 67-66 Highland Conference Wildcat setback.

Evart had dominated early in the game and led 18-10 after the third quarter 39-23 at halftime and 46-40 after the third quarter. But the Trojans had a 27-20 advantage in the final eight minutes.

Addy Gray had 20 points for the Wildcats while Skylar Baumgardner had 18 points and Ally Theunick had nine points. Mackenzie Bisballe had 30 points for Evart and Chloe Bisballe had 19.

“They’re a very good team,” Evart coach Matt Tiedt said. “But we let one slip away. We were up big at half, they had a really good third quarter and we had a flat third quarter.”

Evart had the ball with five seconds left with a chance to win the game.

“Addy brought it down and couldn’t get a shot off,” Tiedt said.

Evart plays at home on Tuesday against Pine River.

“That will be the end of a busy stretch,” Tiedt said. “We had Manton on Wednesday, McBain on Friday and Lake City Monday and then Tuesday night.”

Evart is 5-5 overall and 6-5 in the Highland Conference. Lake City is 10-1 in the Highland Conference to tie McBain for first place and is 11-1 overall.
