Evart girls cheerleaders continue their season
EVART – Evart's cheerleaders will compete at Marion on Wednesday and at Harrison on Saturday.
"Everyone is in the same boat," Evart coach Marty Pattee said. "We are just happy to be competing. I expect scores to be close and for teams to continue to make improvements all week. We will be working hard to complete our third round and clean up the other two. I have a young team with no seniors and they work hard. I expect that several teams will be surprised as we go through the season."
Evart was expected to be at Houghton Lake last week.
I am extremely proud of the team, we came in second in our session and third out of all teams that competed, including divisions higher than us," Pattee said. "I am excited to see what this week holds for us. Due to the fact that only four teams can compete at a time, we will only see three other teams. There will be multiple sessions and scores will be used to place or rank teams.
“I am excited about the opportunity. I just wish I could see all of my opponents. My team knows that it is going to take a lot of work to pull this off. We are concerned about how little time there is before we compete. Our goal will be to improve the scores each competition as we prepare for the final run.”
But the Wildcats do have company.
“All teams are in the same boat,” Pattee said. “However, when you have a young, inexperienced team, you have to focus on improvement first, winning will come. My hope is that no coach pushes their team too much and has someone getting hurt. Our athlete’s safety should always come first."
