EVART – Savanna Cooper is getting ready for for some key upcoming meets for Evart’s competitive cheer team.

She’s a freshman for the Wildcats and is in her first year of competitive cheer

“It’s a new learning experience and I always thought the sport was cool,” she said. “ I like it. It love the stunting.”

Cooper is usually the base for Evart. During the mounts, it’s extremely important for the base to be reliable as they hold up the flyer.

“The key to being effective with that is having strong legs,” Cooper said.

After the team’s first meet, “I think it went well for as much as we had to learn at that time,” Cooper said.

It continues to be a learning process for the Evart cheerleaders.

“I want to work on my jump and more of my skills,” Cooper said, adding the teamwork aspect “is going pretty well.”

Evart has some home meets coming up and improving scores each meet is a goal.

“I think well face good competition,” Cooper said.

She also also played volleyball and softball but prefers cheer.

“It’s a lot more hands on,” she said.
