Evart football sophomore looking forward to 2015
EVART — Cody Prichard worked at getting the job done as a fullback and linebacker as a sophomore for Evart’s football team.
But Prichard wishes things could have gotten better for himself and his team, which finished at 2-7 following a 42-14 loss in week nine.
But he did learn a lot on the varsity, he acknowledges. He and quarterback Trevin Ladd were among the sophomores on the team.
His role on defense was “stop the run up the middle,” Prichard said, adding that the effectiveness on his part “has been off and on,” and that the key remains “being strong up front.”
Evart defeated White Cloud to open the season but the only other victory came against Marion in a forfeit. The Wildcats were expected to defeat Marion if the game had been played. Another highlight was a 16-6 loss to Pine River against a playoff-qualifying team that had to battle for dear life.
Prichard and others on the Evart team can see improvement from early in the season and are confident it can carry over to next year.
“I’ve improved a lot on defense,” he said.
Prichard is looking at getting tougher and stronger with offseason work as the Wildcats prepare for 2015.
