
Evart falls to Beaverton in district semifinal
BEAL CITY — Evart’s girls basketball season came to a close at 0-20 with a 53-30 loss to Beaverton Wednesday night in a Class D district semifinal game at Beal City.
Kristen Kullman hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to close the first quarter for Evart, trailing 8-7.
Kullman and Tabby Turley both hit triples in the second quarter to help Evart cut the gap to 20-17. But Beaverton went on a run for a 25-17 halftime lead.
Beaverton had a 12-0 run to open the second half.
Beaverton led 41-22 after the third quarter. Kullman hit two triples in the fourth to cut the Beaver lead to 46-28.
Kullman led Evart with 12 points while Mara VanOrder and Turley added seven apiece.
The Beavers, 15-6, led by Brianna Frasher with 17 points, advance to Friday’s title game.
