MCBAIN — The Evart football team dropped to 1-2, 0-1 in the Highland Conference on Friday with a 14-11 overtime loss to McBain.

“I thought our kids played extremely hard and put themselves in a position to win,” Evart coach Pat Craven said.

It was 8-8 after regulation. Evart kicked a field goal in overtime but McBain scored the touchdown. Each team had a chance to move the ball from the 10-yard line in the OT.

Dylan Danley had 42 rushing yards, while Cody Pritchard added 33 yards and a touchdown. Chris Imhoff kicked a 27-yard field goal.

Danny Griffin and Imhoff both finished with 15 tackles.

Quarterback Trevin Ladd missed his second game after sustaining injuries in a car accident.

“He’s definitely not back this week,” Craven said. “We’re still not sure. He goes back (Monday to the doctor).”

Robbie Tapling has been filling in at quarterback during Ladd’s absence. Craven indicated Ladd is the only Wildcat sidelined with an injury.

The Wildcats host Manton (1-2) on Friday.

“Manton’s a little bit beat up too so we’re trying to figure out what we’re going to get from them,” Craven said. “They’ve had some key injuries at key spots also. We feel like it’s just like with McBain, a pretty even game, and will probably come down to one or two big plays, and hopefully we can make them.”
