EVART -- Evart's competitive cheer team continues to make improvement, and coach Marty Pattee can't wait until her team starts performing in the postseason.

Last week, Evart had a meet on Wednesday at Marion and took third, and Saturday were at the Houghton Lake Invitational, and took second.

"We're finally starting to get back to normal," Pattee said. "I'm getting my kids healthy and it will just be in time so we can do well at districts in a couple of weeks."

Evart will be at East Jordan on Wednesday.

Next will be the district on Feb. 21, also at East Jordan. One of the recent casualties of the flu outbreak was the Evart Invitational on Feb. 1. It will not be rescheduled.

"We're continuing to work," Pattee said. "It hurt us to be out for almost a week and a half with the flus and illnesses going around. But I think we're starting to get on track and if everything goes right, they can be a contender for one for the teams to move on from the districts. I'm really hopeful."

Top four teams at district go to the regional on Feb. 29.

Key returners for Evart have included Mari Flachs as a flyer and a tumbler, Abbi Boyd as a tumbler and a base, Zandrea Geranen as a base and tumbler and Kaitlyn

Roberts as a back spot.
