EVART — Evart’s boys track team is expecting to have another solid season.
The Wildcats competed at Sparta on March 29.
Danny Griffin was first in the 400 meters (51.61) and third in the 200 meters (24.71), Zach Parshall was first in the high jump (6-1) and Cody Pritchard was fourth in the 100 meters (11.89).
Nick Niles was seventh in the 400 (57.34), Santana Scott second in the 2,400 meters (7:52.10), Micah Wetters was fourth in the 110-meter high hurdles, Pritchard, Danley Kyle Stokes and Griffin second in the 4x200 relay (1:36.85), Danley seventh in the shot put (35-8), Sky Ranjel third (98-10) and Zach Parshall fifth (97-6) in the discus and Pritchard second in the long jump (18-10).
The 4x200 relay’s clocking, “for this time of year is pretty fast,” Evart coach Dennis Peacock said.
Griffin, Pritchard, Scott and Josh Woods are slated to be among Evart’s top point producers.
“Zach Parshall will be strong in the jumps too,” Peacock said. “He was an all-stater last year in the high jump and his long jumps have improved a bit.”
As a team, “I think we’re going to be solid,” Peacock said. “I think we’ll be OK, as long as nobody gets hurt. Lake City and Manton will be pretty good (in the Highland). We’ve been able to get out. Our throwers seem to be progressing.”
Evart is at Vestaburg on April 12.
