GRAND RAPIDS — Evart's boys track team tied for 16th with 11 points in Saturday's Division 3 state final meet at Grand Rapids' Houseman Field.

Kyle Stokes was seventh in the 200 meters (23.23) while Josh Woods was sixth in the 1,600 meters (4:33.08) with a personal record. Austin Hamilton was eighth in the 3,200-meter run (10:07.4). The 400-meter relay team of Cody Pritchard, Scott Martin, Kyle Stokes and Danny Griffin was fourth in 44.62. The 800 relay team of Pritchard, Martin, Stokes and Griffin was sixth in 1:33.8. Martin was seventh in the high jump (6-1).

"We were really pleased with the number of kids we had who made all-state," Evart boys coach Dennis Peacock said. "We had kids all-state in seven different events. That speaks to a pretty good team. We thought we might place higher in some of those events. We were pleased. It was neat to see. It speaks for a good team."

In the Division 3 meet at Comstock Park, Pine River's Elijah Lewis was sixth in the 400-meter dash in 50.74 seconds and scored his team's only three points.

Key Evart graduates include Danny Griffin, Cody Pritchard and Josh Woods, in various events, including the relays.

"That will make a big impact," Peacock said. "We have some pretty good kids back. We have a good sophomore class. We think the kids will be very good this year."

No other area athletes placed.
