EVART — Evart’s boys basketball team fell 66-59 to Beal City in Highland Conference action at home on Friday.

“It was a pretty good game,” Evart coach Kris Morgan said. “We missed Danny (Griffin) for that one. He was unavailable. Going into it, we had to make adjustments and I thought we played pretty well. We hung right there.”

With two minutes left in the game, the Wildcats were down by only two points.

Carter Pritchard had 17 points for Evart. Five of his baskets were 3-pointers. Layne Nadig added 10 points. Karsten Allen, Trevin Ladd and Cody Pritchard had eight points apiece.

Beal City led 18-11 after the first quarter, 29-27 at halftime and 46-40 after the third quarter. Beal City had a 20-19 scoring advantage in the fourth.

Morgan said Griffin was nursing a hurt ankle. He was expected to be available this week.

Evart is at Manton on Thursday for its third scheduled game of the week. The Wildcats entered this week at 4-7 overall and 3-6 in the Highland.
