By taking second, the entire Evart team qualified for the state finals this Saturday at Michigan International Speedway.

“We were hoping to win it,” Evart coach Kevin Mills said. “We’re happy to go to state. We didn’t run our best. We’re gearing up for the state meet.”

For the girls, Evart was fifth and CCA seventh. Brooke Belleville was seventh (21:21.79), Sarah Nelson was 11th (22:22.49), Arianna Mooney 32nd (24:23.21), Rose Clark 45th (26:54.47) and Grace Green 48th (28:58.47).

On Saturday, the boys will run at 10 a.m. and the girls at 11 a.m.

The boys were second place overall in the Highland Conference this season.
