EVART — Evart’s boys track team was second behind Saugatuck in the Red Division at the Kent County Elite meet on Friday.

Pine River was second with 80. In the girls division, Evart was third with 64 points and Pine River was fourth with 62.

Evart was led in the 100 meters by Cody Pritchard (11.87) who took first and Kyle Stokes (11.92) second.

Josh Woods was third in the 800 meters (2:09.89).

“We did well,” Evart coach Dennis Peacock said. “We came in second behind Saugatuck and did a really good job. Santana ran a very good mile.”

Scott was first in 4:28.07 and first in the 3,200 meters (9:55.92). Micah Wetters was second in the 110 hurdles (17.3). The foursome of Pritchard, Dillon Danley, Joe Eastman and Stokes was first in the 4x100 relay (46.95). Pritchard, Danley, Stokes and Wetters were first (1:38.52).

For Pine River, Elijah Lewis was second in the 200 meters (24.44). Pine River’s Josh Jackson was second in the shot put (38-10). In the high jump. Evart’s Zach Parshall (6-1) was first and Pine River’s Elijah Lewis was second (5-8).

For the Evart girls, Brooke Belleville won the 100 meters (13.43), and the 200 meters (28.24). Mara VanOrder (1:03.45) won the 400 meters while Pine River River’s Anna Lindquist was second (1:04.92).

Pine River’s Shiloh Ruppert won the 100-meter hurdles (17.93).

In the pole vault, Anna Lindquist (8-6) was third for Pine River and Allyssa Witbeck (7-6) of Evart was fourth. Macey Wallace of Evart was fourth in the long jump (14-6).

In action at Coleman on April 19, Beal City won with 96 for the boys. Evart had 91. Coleman 36.5 and Marion 32.5. Beal City won the women’s with 91, Marion had 71.5, Evart 70.5 and Coleman 11.

Pine River attended the NMC invitational held at McBain High School on April 19. Pine River finished third on the boys side and fourth on the girl.

“For the boys Elijah Lewis had a breakout night, finishing first in the high jump, long jump, 200-meter dash, and second in the 100 meters,” Pine River coach Eric Gebhard said. “Hunter Esiline was second in the high jump and 200-meter dash, and had top six finishes in the 100 meters and long jump.

For the girls, Anna Lindquist had a good night, taking first in the pole vault, and having solid races in the middle distance. Selma Barnett and Kelsi Charles improved their times nicely in the distance events. Logan Powell finished some strong performances in the sprints against a tough field.”
