EVART — Playing in its second game of the new year, the Evart boys basketball team dropped its home game 45-36 to the Houghton Lake Bobcats on Tuesday, Jan. 11.
With the defeat, the Wildcats fall to 2-4 (2-3) on the campaign, and find themselves in sixth place in the Highland Conference standings.

After the first quarter, it was Houghton Lake that had a slim 9-5 lead.
Evart kept the game tight through to the end of the first half, and trailed its conference opponents 21-15 at the halftime break.
Coming out of the break, Houghton Lake took control and began to expand its advantage, leading by eight points, as the third quarter folded into the fourth at a 32-24 mark.
The Wildcats cut the Bobcat lead to only a couple points late in the match, but were forced to intentionally foul opposing players with seconds remaining to stop the clock.
Evart’s Kam Darling led the team in scoring with 23 points and went 7-for-10 at the free-throw line.
Marcel White made three of his five free-throw shots.
