EVART — Evart's boys basketball team improved its record to 6-9 on Feb. 20 with an 80-64 win over Farwell.

Evart was up 21-4, and 37-15 after the first two quarters and 59-32 after the third.

"We wanted to run on them as much as we could," Evart coach Kris Morgan said. "One of their better players was on the bench the first quarter and we tried to take advantage of that. We didn't hit that many 3-point shots. We scored 80 points and only had three 3-pointers.

Danny Griffin had 21 points while Trevin Ladd had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Evart.

Evarst lost 71-70 on Feb. 21 to Lake City in overtime.

Prior to this game. Evart lost to Manton 74-45."They kind of imposed their will on us," Morgan said. "They really pushed us around and made it tough to get going."

On Feb. 14, the Wildcats edged McBain Northern Michigan Christian 64-63 for its second straight one-point victory over the Comets this season.

On Feb. 13, Evart lost 74-67 to Harrison. Carter Pritchard had 21 points and Griffin 16. Against NMC, Pritchard had 20 points and Griffin 13. Against Manton, Karsten Allen had 10 and Pritchard nine.

"We were a little disappointed in the Harrison game," Morgan said. "We had expected to come there with a chance (for a win). The NMC game, we really played well."

Evart is at Pine River on Thursday to close the regular season.

"We're striving to hit our stride and go into districts with a winning streak," Morgan said.
