REED CITY — The final three weeks of the regular season are going to be busy for the Evart Wildcats.

Postponements have pushed various games ahead on the Wildcat boys basketball schedule.

A game at Manton last Thursday was snowed out.

Tuesday of this week, Evart was slated to be at Lake City. They have Marion at home Friday night. Next week, they’re slated to be at home Monday against Montabella and Feb. 21 at Pine River.

In their most recent game, the Wildcats lost Feb. 5 at Beal City 85-38.

“It was a nine-point game going into halftime,” said Evart coach Kris Morgan said. “We were down in the first quarter and that was because they had scored a couple at the end. It was tied toward the end of the first quarter. They were down by nine at half.

“They came out and wound up hitting 12 3-pointers on us. Going into the fourth, we were down 20 and we were getting everyone in and their bench guys came and started hitting,”

Jacob Hopkins had 16 points for Evart.

It was the Wildcats’ third game in five days. They had beaten Beal City 52-43 at Evart on Feb. 1. The Aggies were obviously ready for the rematch.

“They said we snuck up on them Friday and they weren’t going to take us for grant,” Morgan said. “You have to prepare every game.

“I told the guys don’t forget  it, we need to keep remembering what we did wrong and what we did  right and keep working.”
